i'm not going to fit all this crap in one plurk
hinoto's true wish is 'to live forever as a dreamseer'
but kay, you stole that from the anime (yes, i did)
but kay, how can that be true if she's trying to destroy tokyo?
the 'forever' is a bit misleading - basically what she wants is to have been right all along, so she's willing to severely shorten her own lifespan if it means the world will end in the way she predicted
if the world fails to end, she'll no longer be living as a 'dreamseer'. that's why she's trying to destroy the world
but kay! she also dreamed that kamui would kill her! if that doesn't happen she won't be a 'dreamseer' by that definition either!
I KNOW. THIS IS BASICALLY THE SPANNER IN THE WORKS THAT MAKES HER TRUE WISH SO COMPLICATED FOR ME
but WHAT I THINK IS, that because it was also predicted that hinoto's dreamseeing would fail, she's basically hoping that if kamui doesn't kill her, that will count as 'the failure of her dreamseeing', and everything she predicted before (ie the end of the world) will still happen on schedule
well all right, i can hear you saying, but that still means her dreamseeing failed after a certain point.
i like to think that's the reason her personality split in the first place. it had already been predicted that her dream would fail, and the thought of losing her powers was too painful. if the end of the world never happens, then everything that made her useful and special and interesting no longer exists (she isnt actually able to flawlessly predict the future.) she likes to think that she doesn't want any more people to suffer and die, but she kind of secretly does because to her living without her powers seems even worse than that.
i think the evil hinoto is the part of her that's in massive denial of the fact that the end of the world may not actually happen. so in denial that she's willing to actively help the end of the world along by killing the dragons of heaven one by one if that means that her prediction will end up having been right.
she can't let kamui kill her before then, because if that dream comes true, theres the possibility that the dream that was meant to fail was the end of the world, and she'd never know whether she had been right or not.
so she sacrifices the dream of kamui killing her as being the false one, in hopes of seeing the end of the world come true.
that part eventually split away in to its own personality because the rest of her was pretty confident that that was a fucking terrible reason to WISH FOR THE END OF THE WORLD, and, like a normal person would, hoped that her dream eventually would fail so that everyone on the planet could still live.
the reason sane hinoto wishes for kamui to kill her has nothing to do with dreams failing and/or coming true - she just wants to die so that her other half won't actively aid in killing the dragons of heaven any more. the fact that it's kamui specifically she wants to kill her is pretty much convenience (since her dream led her to believe this is a possibility) - the crux of the wish is she wants to be stopped before she can go fucking everything up even more.
